Boao Lecheng International Medical and Tourism Pilot Zone has teamed up with 13 other medical industrial parks in China to set up a community for domestic big health industrial parks on June 10.

Members of the community included Daxing Biomedicine Industrial Base in Beijing, Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area, Haikou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Hainan and Fangchenggang International Medical Opening-up Pilot Zone in Guangxi.

The community is the first of its kind in China to gather together big health industrial parks from all over the country.

It will carry out joint business in 10 areas such as releasing a blueprint for China's big health industrial development, establishing resource-exchange platforms, conducting global communication and cooperation, and formulating evaluation criteria for healthy industrial parks.

The total output value of the 14 members of the community stands at over 2 trillion yuan ($312 billion), accounting for nearly a quarter of the market scale of China's big health industry, which had a scale of around 8 trillion yuan in 2020.

"We will lure more medical industrial parks as well as companies to join the community," said Liu Zhefeng, deputy head of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration and secretary-general of the community. "It will be an open platform and members of the community can share their resources in areas spanning investment attraction, technologies and medicines."

Gu Gang, director of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, added that the community is like a circle of friends, which will make it more convenient for other medical industrial parks to learn from Lecheng's experiences in innovation and reform.
