Hainan Saint Lucia Clinic has gained its medical practice license and has officially settled in the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, local media outlets reported on Feb 5.

Hainan Saint Lucia Clinic is a project run by the Beijing-based Saint Lucia Hospital Management Consulting Co, which is the largest Chinese provider of credible guidance on overseas medical care for high profile Chinese patients.

The establishment of Hainan Saint Lucia Clinic marks a great breakthrough for Saint Lucia, as it moves from being simply a consulting institute to owning its own medical entity.

Meanwhile, Saint Lucia will make full use of the preferential policies in Lecheng, and the licensed medicines and instruments, to provide more comprehensive, convenient and cost-effective solutions for Chinese patients.

Saint Lucia first signed a memorandum of cooperation to set up a medical entity in Hainan with the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development during the second China International Import Expo in Shanghai in November 2019.

Hainan Saint Lucia Clinic will provide services such as inviting professional doctors from abroad to the clinic to see patients, remote video consultations, and joint consultations between experts from home and abroad, allowing Chinese patients to enjoy internationally-leading treatment and diagnosis services without leaving the country.

For those seeking medical treatment abroad, patients sometimes have to go through follow-up treatment or visits after finishing their core treatment. With the help of Hainan Saint Lucia Clinic, these patients can remain in China to finish their follow-up treatment or visits, yet still be under the guidance of their original attending doctors from when they were abroad.

In addition, some patients can get their treatment solutions through consultation with experts from both home and abroad and finish processes such as relevant examinations, chemotherapy and operations as much as possible in China, which may reduce costs for patients significantly.
