In 2020, Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, on the island province of Hainan, introduced as many as 129 new types of medical instrument and applied 78 practices for the first time. In order to carry out the "Health China" strategy, and by taking advantage of Hainan Free Trade Port policies, the zone has created more options to maintain the health of Chinese patients.

One of China's first batch of patients to receive Ultherapy treatment was given it at the Cosmetic Medicine Center led by Professor Zhang Xuejun at Boao Super Hospital.

Medtronic Innovative Therapy Center opened at the zone, immediately followed by China's first operation for the implant of a Medtronic balloon-type cryoablation catheter, carried out at Boao Super Hospital.

The Clinical Otolaryngology Center of Boao Super Hospital carried out an Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI) operation. The operation was China's first clinical application of synchrony ABI. It is the only option for hearing-impaired people who cannot implant artificial cochlea. 

China's first phaco+iol+xen minimally invasive triple operation for glaucoma and cataracts was successfully carried out at Boao Super Hospital.

A 4-year-old baby received an implant of a US new-generation cochlea Ultra 3D at Boao Super Hospital. It was the hospital's first US new-generation cochlea Ultra 3D implanting operation since the COVID-19 virus was contained.

China's first artificial iris implantation operation was successfully carried out at Boao Super Hospital by Chen Wei, director of the International Eye Center of Boao Super Hospital and deputy head of the Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), alongside Zhao Zhenquan, who is also from Eye Hospital, WMU. 

A 4-year-old child patient suffering very severe sensorineural deafness in both ears received China's first CI632 artificial cochlea implantation.

The team from the Department of Infection at Boao Super Hospital successfully used Germany's INUS targeted clearance technology to remove heavy metal ions and blood lipids from the blood of a patient with chronic fatigue and hyperlipidemia caused by environmental pathogenic factors.
