Medicines, devices to enter clinical real-world research

Officials from the Hainan Drug Administration announce that three medicines and 11 medical device products are approved for use in clinical real-world experimental research.

The first group of three medicines and the second group of 11 medical devices have been approved for use in clinical real-world experimental research, officials from the Hainan Drug Administration announced on Dec 28.

Li Zhiping, head of the Hainan Medical Products Administration, said the body would devote more effort towards clinical real-world experimental research under the guidance of the National Medical Products Administration.

Li said it would team up with the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, to further promote the development of clinical real-world research.

Local officials said Hainan's clinical real-world experimental research is expected to accelerate the process of global advanced medical device products and medicines entering the Chinese market, bringing more choice and benefits to Chinese patients.

Gu Gang, director of the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, said that he believed such experimental research would contribute to breakthroughs in using clinical real-world data as secondary evidence -- and in promoting more international innovative drugs and medical device products entering the Chinese market.
