4-year-old child receives China's first CI632 artificial cochlea implantation

Updated: June 28, 2020 L M S

A 4-year-old child patient suffering severe sensorineural deafness in both ears received China's first CI632 artificial cochlea implant on June 28, 2020.

The operation allows a greater flap thickness, which reduces the risk caused by cutting the scalp, thereby shortening the operation time and reducing postoperative complications.

Surveys show that the intact rate of CI632 implants in children is up to 100 percent, which indicates the high reliability of the implants. It is not necessary to remove the magnet when choosing CI632 implants for MRI scans at 1.5 Tesla or 3.0 Tesla intensity, which greatly reduces the surgical trauma caused by removing the magnet.
