Forum on organ transplantation kicks off in Boao

Experts converse organ transplantation at the Boao Forum for Asia's International Convention Center in Qionghai on July 10.

A forum on the development of organ transplantation was held on July 10 at the Boao Forum for Asia's International Convention Center in Qionghai, Hainan province, gathering more than 100 experts in the profession.

The forum, hosted by Hainan Provincial Medical Association and undertaken by the China Health Promotion Foundation, cast eyes on pressing issues, such as setting up an international medical rehabilitation center for transplantation in the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, according to a document on special measures aimed at further relaxing market access to the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Organ transplantation is being considered as an effective treatment for end-stage organ failure, and has experienced sound development in China.

Lecheng will continue to carry out more licensed applications of new medicines in organ transplantation and move forward with the construction of the international medical rehabilitation center for transplantation in Lecheng. 

Liu Zhefeng, deputy head of the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, expressed his hope that more communication and cooperation can be carried out in the future with experts in organ transplantation.
