Updated: December 10, 2020 L M S

Hainan has drawn up a blueprint for its economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, setting the long-range goal of achieving socialist modernization by 2035 on Dec 8.

It was put forward that the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone will accelerate its pace in achieving global simultaneity in medical technologies, equipment, and medicine, while cultivating a medical group with international competitiveness.

The average life expectancy of residents in Hainan will gradually increase, while a more comprehensive health system will be built.

The integrated development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), modern rehabilitation technologies, and Hainan's climate resources will be accelerated to establish a brand featuring TCM tourism. International TCM exchanges centers will also be built.

Security control in areas spanning port public health safety, food safety, drug safety, and product quality will be further enhanced.

Efforts will also be made in developing international remote medicine to speed up the construction of an "intelligent Hainan."
